At Zopa, we’re gearing up for substantial growth beyond our already 1 million customers with significant expansion plans. We are looking for a product manager to join our Unsecured Personal Loans tribe to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the billing engines used across Zopa’s lending products.
The Unsecured Personal Loan’s tribe is split over multiple multi-disciplinary squads, focusing on originations, decisioning, our mobile and web experience and servicing. This role sits in the Servicing squad, at the heart of the business, owning the financial engine behind our loan products and collaborating with many squads at Zopa. Our loans product is award winning, landing best loan provider at the British Bank Awards 7 out of the last 8 years! However, we know that many of our customers are looking for more. We are on a mission to find out what that is and deliver it.
This is a highly autonomous and high ownership role, where you will use data, customer research and industry insights to define new opportunities and validate your hypotheses. Given the technical aspect of this role, you’ll also pair closely with engineering to ensure we build a flexible platform that will scale with Zopa’s ambitious growth plans.
Of course, you won’t be doing this alone! Collaboration is in our DNA here at Zopa, which means you'll be part of a cross-functional squad of talented and passionate engineers, designers and analysts working together from concept through to delivery. There’s no room for ivory tower thinking and dishing out requirements - you’ll need to work proactively and collaboratively from the ground up, engaging stakeholders and getting their buy in and most importantly making sure we're building the right things for our customers.

A day in the life...

  • Own the product roadmap, prioritising initiatives that drive growth and enhance the customer experience while optimising the platform.
  • Define the future strategy for the billing platforms across all Zopa’s lending products.
  • Bring together key insights with the help of design and analyst teams to plot out where the big opportunities are.
  • Collaborate with engineers in your team to work out how to enhance and scale the platform, helping them make the right trade-offs to ensure a speedy delivery.
  • With the help of the engineers in your team, ensure everything built is valuable, viable, usable, scalable and feasible.
  • Build close relationships with key stakeholders such as Operations, Compliance, Brand, Legal and Finance to effectively and collaboratively solve problems
  • Develop a strong understanding of the technical architecture and capabilities of the billing engine, diving into the calculations and processes that power the platform.

About you...

  • You are an experienced technical product manager or similar, working on core platforms, demonstrating your knack for delivering exceptional value to customers and the business.
  • You’re analytical with excellent attention to detail. You’re comfortable working with data to support decision making and validate assumptions. If you’ve got previous experience using SQL and data visualisation tools such as Tableau, that's a bonus!
  • You are passionate about diving deep into your product, thoroughly understanding its workings and system behaviours and can utilise tools like excel for modelling and analysis.
  • You have experience working in a cross-functional team. When you think about who your “team-mates” are, your 'go-to' will be engineers, analysts and designers.
  • You can communicate your insights succinctly and influence upwards, downwards and sideways. You treat others with respect but you’re not afraid to challenge them sensitively.
  • You’re a self-starter. You know when to ask for support and you’re not shy about doing so, but you don’t wait to be told what to do.
  • You are empathetic. You do the right thing for customers, even if it’s the more challenging option.
  • You look for the minimum viable product, preferring to execute on something small and learn from the experience than to wait until it’s perfect.
