What’s Yonder?

“It's as if Time Out, Amex and Monzo had a baby” - Will T, Yonder Member

We’re building the financial membership of the future. Starting with a credit card that has fun and experiences at its core, we’re the antithesis to your dad’s stuffy, corporate, boring credit card.

While tech is revolutionising the finance industry, credit is still stuck in the stone ages. We want to create a world where financial services are fair and conscious, and the stress of debt is eliminated for everyone.

We announced our £62.5M Series A raise in 2023, and we’re backed by some of the best in the business. We’ve attracted top talent from OVO, Ziglu, Monzo, and Wise. Over the last 18 months, we’ve grown from just an idea to a beautiful, fully regulated credit product that our members absolutely love.

Sounds cool. So what’s my part in this?

There are 3 squads in Yonder,

  • Growth: Focuses on getting new members. The pm is Karam (he’s also the hiring manager, hi!).

  • Scale and Defend: Ensures we’re protecting our customers and business against bad actors.

  • Member Value: Ensures that both members and partners love our products - this is where you come in.

We’re looking for a Product Manager to come and join our incredible member value team: Vytautas, Harry, Bryony, Hels, Anya, and Kate. Together they help build our beautifully designed product that our members absolutely love. Our CEO, Tim Chong, has been the acting product manager but we’re now at a stage where we need another PM since he has to run the business.

You’ll get to work with the team helping build the financial membership of the future. You’ll be deeply involved in crafting the direction of the product roadmap and invest heavily in creating delightful customer experiences. You’ll need to balance this with how we build a product for our partners as well. It’s a delicate act.

Product at Yonder isn’t project management or a product owner role, it’s about leading through influence to deliver high impact results for our members and for Yonder. We hold ourselves accountable to the outcomes we deliver (and not the features we ship), but we’re comfortable with product bets that succeed and fail. Product is the critical glue between our members, support, design, engineering, marketing, analytics, risk, commercial and finance - it’s a delicate balancing act.

A bit about you:

  • You place customers first. You will have talked to many customers maybe even have created a community for feedback, collecting customer feedback (both qualitative and quantitative) & research are at the forefront of your thinking

  • You’ve worked in an environment that balances members' problems with 3rd party partners needs to build balanced products.

  • You inspire others. You can explain the customer problems clearly and include the right mix of team members to discuss solutions. You have an ability to work with the team to develop an inspiring product vision

  • You’re always learning. Whether it’s interviewing customers, designing UIs, writing code or modelling growth, you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and learn the skills you don’t have today to unblock your team

  • You’re a great communicator. You can summarise the complex and can adapt your communication style to different audiences from 1:1s to presentations. You’re able to persuade others and you aren’t afraid to challenge something when you need to

  • Attention to detail. You’re able to zoom in and obsess about small details that benefit customers. Mention #Pineapple in your interview application so we know you’ve got it.

  • A proven track record of being able to deliver highly ambitious products across multiple teams. You’ll be ready to show what these are, and how you made it happen.

  • You are data-driven. You need to be able to prioritise the value you can add to customers, while keeping tabs on product economics. Numbers are the best way to do this. You are very rigorous about measuring impact. You also need to demonstrate the ability to move metrics and hit your OKRs

  • Technical know-how. You may have started out your career as an engineer or analyst or designer, maybe it's a secret passion. You need to be able to communicate effectively with our product engineers.

Bonus

  • You’ve build a credit card or worked in rewards, loyalty or fintech before

Here’s how it works:

  • Stage 4: Problem solving interview (60 mins): We’ll pair on a problem together with a whiteboard to see how you think about solving them with other team members.

  • Stage 3: Values interview (60 mins): We want to learn more about how you work - we’ll ask you questions related to our principles (Our DNA). This stage will be with two people from our wider team.

  • Stage 5: Offer 🤩 If everyone’s happy, we’ll make you an offer to join us 🎉 All offers are subject to right to work & criminal background checks. We’ll also do a reference check - ideally with a previous manager on the phone.
