Over the last 18 months, we’ve grown from just an idea to a beautiful, fully regulated credit product that our members absolutely love.

Sounds cool. So what’s my part in this?

We are now looking for a Compliance Manager who will be working with our Head of Legal & Compliance, Bryony, to protect our business and ensure we achieve our goals, the right way.

We’re looking for someone who is highly entrepreneurial (you are always asking “how can we make this better” and “how can this scale”) and is excited at the prospect of taking the lead on all things compliance at a fast-growing FinTech.

What you’ll be doing

You will be helping Bryony further build out the compliance function at Yonder. This means:

• Keeping Yonder compliant - you will take the reins on our existing monitoring programme, by auditing our existing processes and controls, identifying and fixing any gaps, and being a shining example of good record-keeping;

• Bringing compliance to life - you will empower the rest of the Company to engage with our compliance obligations by developing policies that aren’t just filed away in G-drive, but are well understood by everyone on the team. You will also help suggest improvements to internal processes (that are both efficient and compliant!) and run training sessions to deepen compliance understanding across the Company;

• Finding a way to get to “yes”- you will help our product, design and marketing teams launch innovative new lending products and product features, in a compliant way.

You're a great fit if you

✅ Crave autonomy and thrive when given lots of responsibility. This isn’t the kind of role where you’ll be told how to do your job, and you won’t be part of a large compliance function with set ways of doing things. Bryony will be there as a sounding board, but day-to-day you’ll need to be comfortable using your own judgment, pushing projects forward, and leaning on external advisors as needed.

✅ Enjoy solving difficult problems and stay cool under pressure: We’ve got ambitious goals and we like to move fast. You need to be comfortable solving problems quickly and you need to keep your cool in order to find solutions if things go slightly pear-shaped.

✅Have a strong compliance background: You have a solid foundation in how a compliance function should run and feel comfortable getting to grips with the ever changing compliance landscape. Having a consumer credit or Fintech background is a huge plus!

✅Are super practical: No-one likes an unnecessary checklist - you must love to think creatively and enjoy finding innovative solutions to even the most standard of compliance issues.

What’s it like working at Yonder?

What’s the application process like?

We take the candidate experience really seriously, so we’ve made the process as transparent as possible. We also promise to be super responsive, and will never leave you wondering where you stand for weeks on end.

Here’s how it works:

• Stage 1: Hiring manager call (45 mins): We'll have an initial Zoom call to find out more about you and to tell you more about us.

• Stage 2: Technical interview (60 mins): We’ll ask you to comment on some real compliance problems we’ve had at Yonder so we can see how you would approach solving them (these will be sent in advance so you have a couple of days to prep - we don’t expect you to know the Handbook off by heart!)

• Stage 3: Face-to-face at our Old Street office (120 min): We’ll run through two 60-minute interviews, with a 15 min comfort break to learn more about how you work. This will also be a great opportunity for you to meet the rest of the team. Interviews will be structured as follows:

  • Experience interview (60 mins): We’ll deep dive into your CV and talk about your compliance experience.

  • Values interview (60 mins): We want to learn more about how you work - we’ll ask you questions related to our principles (Our DNA). This stage will be with two people from our wider team.

• Stage 4: Offer 🤩 If everyone’s happy, we’ll make you an offer to join us 🎉 All offers are subject to right to work & criminal background checks. We’ll also do a reference check - ideally with a previous manager on the phone.
