What’s Yonder?
“It's as if Time Out, Amex and Monzo had a baby” - Will T, Yonder Member
Yonder combines credit and debit in one membership that’s fair, flexible and actually enjoyable. No jargon. No dusty points system. Just rewards that actually feel rewarding, from bao to beer to a boarding pass.
We're a small, ambitious team, and design sits right at the heart of how we grow. We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help take us there.
Why design matters at Yonder
Design isn’t just making something look good. It’s how a new member decides they can trust us with their money. It’s how we take something as complex as a credit account and make it simple, clear and fun. It’s how we turn rewards into something you actually look forward to using, rather than just a bunch of useless points you never touch.
That’s why design sits right at the centre here. You’ll be given big, ambiguous problems and trusted to figure them out with your team. The expectation is that you care deeply about the quality and detail of your work, as much as the larger ambition driving everything we do.
What you’ll do
You'll join a small team where design carries real weight, in a lean squad with a product manager and two engineers. You'll lead the design and research for your squad, owning your product area end to end, taking problems from a rough idea to something in members' hands quickly. You'll be:
Solving ambiguous problems. You'll take difficult, knotty problems, like making a credit account as simple to understand as a current account, and work out how design cracks them: the end-to-end flows and prototypes that turn something complex into something effortless.
Crafting experiences people love using. Yonder feels different from other finance apps because of how much we obsess over the craft. You'll design beautiful, enjoyable products that feel premium and worth coming back to.
Running your own research. Designers here don’t sit at arm’s length from members. You’ll speak with them directly, test concepts, run usability sessions and use those insights to guide what we build.
Working shoulder to shoulder with your squad. You'll work in the open with your PM and engineers from the first sketch, solving problems together so the final product feels like it was built by one team.
Balancing speed with polish. Some weeks you'll put scrappy ideas in front of members just to learn. Other times you'll slow right down to get the details right. Knowing which a problem needs is part of the job.
Evolving our design system. You'll add to it, refine it and keep it pulling its weight, so it helps the whole team move fast without losing consistency or quality.
You're a great fit if
✅ You operate at a senior level. You can own problems without close direction, make the call on what matters most, and see the roadblocks coming. We're not counting years on a CV, but you'll have shipped enough consumer products to work this way without thinking about it.
✅ You've designed world-class mobile apps. You've shipped native experiences people love, and you treat mobile as its own craft. Yonder lives on a smartphone, and we hold a very high bar for how it feels.
✅ You're a confident generalist. You're comfortable across the whole design spectrum. We don't have researchers, content designers or copywriters to lean on, so you're happy switching hats and covering the gaps.
✅ You sweat the visual details. Typography, layout, colour, spacing, hierarchy. You believe these are what separate a good product from one that feels effortless, and you can't leave them alone until they're right.
✅ You communicate openly and often. You share early, bring people into your process and see engineers and PMs as creative partners.
✅ You care about impact, not output. You believe shipping a feature doesn’t count unless it genuinely helps members. You track the impact of what you build, not just the volume.
✅ You work like its 2026. You experiment with new tools and ways of working. We use AI a lot, and we want someone curious enough to find the edges of what it can do for design.
You won’t be a great fit if
👎 You'd rather wait for instructions than take ownership. We expect designers to run with problems, make decisions and own the outcomes. If you want step-by-step direction, this isn't it.
👎 You prefer working solo with your headphones on. Design at Yonder is collaborative by nature. You’ll constantly be talking with members, bouncing ideas around with PM’s or engineers, and shaping solutions with your squad.
👎 You want a fully remote role. We're office-first. You'll be in our Shoreditch office at least three days a week, because that's where the best collaboration happens. Beyond that, we're flexible.
👎 You want months to polish one project. We move quickly. Sometimes you’ll need to be scrappy and ship fast to learn. If you need every project to be perfect before it sees daylight, this won’t be the right fit.

What’s the interview process like?
We take the candidate experience really seriously, so we’ve made the process as transparent as possible. We also promise to be super responsive, and will never leave you wondering where you stand for weeks on end.
Here’s how it works:
Stage 1: Intro call (45 mins):
You will have an initial Zoom call with Craig, our Head of Design, to find out more about you and to tell you more about us.Stage 2: Portfolio review (60 mins):
We'll dive deep into one or two projects to understand how you approached the problem, the solution you reached, and the impact you had on the people using it.Stage 3: Take home challenge:
We'll set you a small, fun design challenge, which should take a couple of evenings. You'll present it back to the team over a call.-
Stage 4: On-site (2 hours): You’ll come into our Shoreditch office to meet the team. This’ll include:
App critique: You'll lead our Head of Design and another Yonderer through a conversational examination of an app you use regularly. This helps us understand your mobile product design instincts.
Values interview: We want to learn more about how you work - we’ll ask you questions related to our principles (Our DNA). This stage will be with two people from our wider team.
Offer: If everyone’s happy, we’ll make you an offer to join us - YAY! 🎉 We hope to always give you a decision between each stage within 24 hours (where possible).
Other things to know:
We love closing the feedback loop at Yonder. You can expect specific feedback on our decision from Stage 2 onwards, and you can always ask for more.
We must complete the right to work & criminal background checks for every new Yonder-er for compliance purposes because we handle sensitive customer data.
We also do reference checks, ideally with your most recent manager on the phone.
We like to move quickly at Yonder, so we will be ready to onboard you once the above checks are complete - the entire process can take between 2 - 6 weeks.
🌈 We know that diverse teams build better products. If you’re from an under-represented community, we’d especially love to hear from you.
👉 Don't worry about ticking every box. If you operate at this level and the role excites you, we want to hear from you.
