Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Manager is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting for the group. Leading a team from the company’s office in London, the successful candidate will ensure consistent preparation of Group financial statements across the group and will provide technical accounting support to the group where required

This role will suit a technically gifted accountant, well versed across IFRS and UK GAAP with at-least 5 years PQE and proven listed company experience – achieved either through practice (manager level or above) or industry. This is a varied and intellectually challenging role that provides an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing and highly dynamic group at a senior level with significant exposure to Board and Committee members and with scope to work with an international team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing preparation of group financial statements comprising P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, associated notes and detailed commentary.
  • Managing group reporting timetable and ensuring deadlines are achieved and with a drive to reduce reporting time internally and externally.
  • Project managing delivery of full group accounts including front end commentary and disclosures liaising with senior stakeholders and cross functional teams where appropriate including with marketing, HR, company secretarial and legal.
  • Main point of contact for external auditors (PwC).
  • Preparation of detailed board reports on key accounting judgements and estimates.
  • Lead the group financial reporting team – coach and develop talent and ensure delivery of targets aligned to group and functional strategies.
  • Develop and maintain group accounting policies ensuring consistency in approach and application.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting controls befitting of a Premium Listed FTSE business.
  • Provide technical financial support to business areas where required to aid management decision-making.
  • Lead on group accounting matters including IFRS 15, IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IAS 38, going concern and viability assessments.
  • Managing group intercompany process to ensure balances are fully reconciled at each month end.
  • Manage and improve consolidation and reporting systems to deliver efficiency and visibility gains.
  • Rolling out training on changes in accounting treatment and/or new accounting standards as part of a proactive group financial reporting team.
  • Managing financial relationships and upstream reporting.
  • Engage with various teams across the business to ensure understanding and improve quality of financial reporting.
  • Oversee monthly financial control and balance sheet assurance reviews across the group.
  • Actively engage with other finance leaders across the group to improve processes, expand knowledge and build finance function capability.
  • Provide management team with objective assessment of group performance including recommendations.
  • Support governance and company secretarial matters.

Who you are:

  • A qualified Chartered Accountant with over 5 years PQE
  • A technically gifted accountant able to interpret and articulate complex accounting guidance clearly
  • Detailed knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Listed company experience achieved either in industry or in practice
  • Consolidation systems experience – Adaptive desired
  • Self-motivated with an enquiring mind – able to seek out and explore opportunities fully
  • Highly analytical and data literate
  • Exceptional attention to detail and presentation standards
  • Gravitas and the ability to articulate thoughts clearly and concisely – verbal and written
  • Collaborative approach and able to inspire confidence and respect of teams and senior stakeholders
  • A mindset of continuous improvement
  • Advanced excel skills
