About the Role

We’re hiring a Tax Manager based in Mumbai, India to lead our direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, and setup for India while partnering on U.S. and international tax matters. The ideal candidate has ~10 years of experience at a Big 4 firm and/or in-house at a tech/marketplace company, with demonstrated depth in U.S. taxation, complex international transfer pricing, and strong command of Indian tax laws.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Reporting

  • Own India direct tax compliance (corporate income tax, withholding/TDS), GST, and related filings; ensure timely, accurate returns and payments.

  • Manage quarterly and annual tax provision for India entities under Ind AS/IFRS and support U.S. GAAP reporting (ASC 740), including return-to-provision and true-ups.

  • Maintain robust documentation and internal controls aligned with SOX-ready standards.

International & U.S. Tax

  • Lead the execution of global transfer pricing policies: intercompany agreements, cost sharing/CSA (if applicable), services, royalties, and financing.

  • Prepare/oversee TP documentation (local files, master file coordination, Country-by-Country reporting support) and defend positions in audits.

  • Partner with U.S. tax on planning and compliance: Subpart F/GILTI, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits, Section 482, and withholding.

  • Monitor and operationalize global developments (BEPS 2.0/Pillar Two, digital services/equalization levy) and assess India and cross-border impacts.

Advisory & Business Partnering

  • Advise Finance, Legal, and GTM teams on tax impacts of new products, pricing, contracts, vendor/customer terms, and promotions.

  • Structure the tax component of cross-border transactions, entity setups, funding, and cash repatriation in a tax-efficient, compliant manner (including FEMA/exchange control).

  • Review key contracts for tax clauses (gross-up, PE risk, TP, indirect taxes).

  • Drive tax technology and process automation across ERP and billing (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Workday, Stripe), including indirect tax determination and TDS workflows.

Qualifications

  • Experience: ~10 years total; mix of Big 4 (corporate/international tax/TP) and/or in-house tech/SaaS tax manager experience.

  • Technical Depth:

    • U.S. international tax concepts and compliance coordination.

    • India corporate tax, withholding/TDS, MAT, surcharge/cess, advance tax, and GST.

    • Transfer pricing design, implementation, documentation, benchmarking, and audit defense.

    • Tax accounting (ASC 740/Ind AS 12) and financial statement close.

  • Education/Certification: Chartered Accountant (CA) required; CPA and/or LL.M (Tax) a plus.

  • Tools: Advanced Excel; experience with ERP (NetSuite), tax engines (Avalara/Thomson/Vertex or India GST tools), and e-invoicing/GSP portals.

  • Skills: Strong judgment, crisp communication, ability to simplify complex topics, and a builder’s mindset to design scalable processes in a high-growth environment.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in SaaS revenue models (subscriptions, usage, marketplace) and indirect tax on digital supplies.

  • Exposure to IPO/readiness, SOX, and global tax provisioning across multi-entity structures.

  • Familiarity with AP automation and vendor tax onboarding (PAN/GST validation, TDS rate logic).

Location & Work Model

  • Location: Mumbai, India (Bangalore, Hyderabad, or remote within India considered).

  • Collaborate across U.S. and EMEA time zones; occasional evening calls as needed.
