As a Machine Learning Engineer at Labster, you will be instrumental in leveraging Machine Learning models (with a focus on LLMs) to enhance personalized adaptive AI tutoring in immersive learning experiences. Our next Machine Learning Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and integrating models that tailor the educational content effectively, thereby contributing significantly to Labster's mission to empower 100 million students globally with personal AI tutors that dramatically advance equal access to high-quality immersive science and healthcare education.

Responsibilities

• Design LLM-based Personal Adaptive Education: Benchmark, compare, and utilize existing Large Language Models (LLMs) to develop LLM-based solutions for personalized adaptive learning experiences. Leverage educational data sources, including academic research, student feedback, and interactive learning metrics.

• Machine learning development: Build and help set direction across the entire machine learning development process to implement machine learning systems in production, including exploratory data analysis, data modeling, feature engineering, model training and fine-tuning, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

• Work closely with Educational Experts and Developers: Join a top team of educators, software engineers, and other professionals to develop a platform that supports personalized adaptive learning and immersive educational experiences.

• Collaborate with the Data Team: Work alongside a team of Data Analysts and Engineers who will collaborate with in-depth analysis and help you integrate your work within the existing code base and internal tooling.

• Data-Driven Product Improvements: Work with Data Analysts on analyzing relevant educational and internal data sets and provide insights. This includes analyzing learning patterns, student performance metrics, and content effectiveness to ultimately enhance our educational solutions.

• Stay Abreast of Generative AI Developments: Maintain awareness of the latest Machine Learning developments, including generative models and natural language processing, and integrate these where appropriate to enhance learning experiences.

Competencies & Skills

• Advanced degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science/Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field is preferred but not required. Experience can replace educational requirements.

• Proven experience in AI/Machine learning, particularly in prompting and/or fine-tuning Large Language Models.

• Familiarity with vector databases and embedding models.

• Experience deploying and integrating Machine Learning systems in a software development lifecycle (SaaS and/or Open Source).

  • Experience with Neural Networks and Text models is a plus.

• Familiarity with educational technologies and immersive learning environments is a plus.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.

• Strong communication abilities. Be able to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Be able to self-learn and coach team members.
