Senior Product Designer

Do you like to design complex products, making them simple and lovable for the users? Are you excited about learning how business processes work and crafting well-working interfaces to make them more efficient? If yes, then Katana’s Design team is looking for a passionate Senior Product Designer to join us!

Who we are

We believe the future is a tech stack of integrated best-of-breed SaaS products, with Katana at the center.

Since 2017, we've given businesses worldwide a live look at their inventory, uniting all the processes and tools they use with intuitive and easy-to-use cloud inventory software. Our customers range from mom-and-pop shops to multi-million-dollar businesses. To date, we raised over $51 million in funding from VC firms and angel investors who, like us, believe the inventory software space needs more love.

Besides great user experience and top-tier customer support, Katana is also industry-agnostic and scalable. The companies that grow with Katana come from almost any industry you can think of, and our software is designed to plug and play with any existing system of tools manufacturers use.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer with proven B2B SaaS field experience and a drive to solve the challenges of complex products. You are fluent in UX research and understand user needs, translating these insights into business opportunities using the Jobs-to-be-Done framework. You participate in strategic decision-making in your product domain and advocate for the best user experience, creating designs that our users will love. You collaborate with cross-domain stakeholders and communicate your ideas effectively.

Your typical week would include:

Collaboration and ways of working:

  • Owning the design process within the Planning and Forecasting domain, from concept to delivery.
  • Working closely with fellow designers, engineers, product managers, and the marketing team to deliver the best solutions and iterating based on user research, feedback and analytics.
  • Participating in agile sprints and meetings, contributing insights from design perspectives, and aligning with the overall product roadmap.

Research and Development:

  • Continuously learning about the industry and the specific challenges Katana users face, applying this understanding to solve complex problems within the product.
  • Conducting user interviews and using tools like FullStory for tracking and Dovetail for analysing insights, aiming to understand and solve user and business problems.

Design Activities:

  • Creating user flows and UI prototypes empathetically addresses customer needs and ensures the solution fulfils its intended purpose.
  • Making sure that the product is consistent and clear, focusing on user efficiency and satisfaction.
  • Using our design system to keep the product consistent, and contributing to developing the guidelines and components.

Feedback and Impact Analysis:

  • Evaluating the impact of design changes through predefined KPIs and receiving qualitative feedback to gauge user satisfaction.
  • Presenting design outcomes, learnings from failures, and successes to the team fosters a learning environment and drives collective growth.

You’re the perfect fit if you

    • 5+ years of experience as a product designer working with B2B SaaS products, with a proven track record
    • Having a business mindset, understanding how the product roadmap is formed and participating in decision-making as an advocate for user experience
    • Showing strong interest in user needs and processes, fluent in UX research and analysis, and demonstrating decision-making based on research outcomes in their past work
    • Fluent in working with design systems and in Figma, understanding and promoting the value of consistency in design, but ready to challenge the status quo where necessary
    • Collaborating closely with engineers in delivering the best results through a series of iterations based on customer feedback
    • Experience with the JTBD framework is a plus
    • Are knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices and hungry for continuous experimentation and advancement
