Robot Data Operations Analyst
Role Overview
Genesis is a global physical AI lab and full-stack robotics company. We build generalist robots to unlock unlimited physical labor, so humans can focus on creativity, curiosity, and what we love.
As a Robot Data Operations Analyst, you’ll split your time between hands-on robot teleoperation and analytical work. You’ll be maintaining high quality data by designing robotics tasks for data collection, labeling datasets, evaluating models, and providing quality assurance and feedback to engineering and fleet operation teams. You will also support robot teleoperation sessions, monitor robot behavior, identify and report issues, and maintain safety in an R&D environment. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience with robotics systems, contribute directly to training foundation models, and work alongside ML engineers and roboticists.
This role is hands-on and is onsite in San Carlos, CA.
Responsibilities:
Control the robot by wearing a teleoperating device and equipment for robot training purposes, following standard operating procedures.
Observe robot behavior and document robot issues during operation.
Perform quality checks on teleoperation performance from videos and provide feedback to the teleoperation fleet.
Perform quality checks on language annotations and provide feedback to the annotation team.
Maintain a safe environment for both yourself and the robot at all times.
Follow proper equipment and robot service procedures, including bring-up and shutdown and physical inspection.
Write documentations, SOPs, and troubleshooting guidance.
Evaluate a robot foundation model’s performance by observing and documenting robot behavior and analyzing root cause.
Requirements:
Strong attention to detail and proactive mindset.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
Comfortable working on feet and, potentially, in VR environments.
Must demonstrate curiosity, coachability, and consistency.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs when staging environments / supporting robot operations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Embrace constructive feedback and strive for constant improvement.
Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a dynamic R&D environment.
Maintain high quality work and efficiency while working with little supervision.
Bonus Qualifications:
Linux OS experience and familiarity.
Programming experience with Python or other languages to automate scripts.
Mechanical hardware assembly and troubleshooting experience.
Prior robot teleoperation experience.
Familiarity with bash, shell, and/or terminal commands.
AI/Machine Learning experience or projects.
Excellent physical coordination, spatial awareness, and focus.
Master new physical tasks quickly and optimize for performance
