System Safety Engineer - Autonomous Technology
Einride
IT
Gothenburg, Sweden
Job Description
Want to be part of transforming road freight – for good? Einride is showing the world a new way to move, based on the latest digital, electric and autonomous technologies. Through freight capacity as a service, we enable businesses around the world to accelerate towards their sustainability goals.
Founded in 2016, Einride became the first company in the world to deploy a cab-less autonomous electric vehicle on a public road (Sweden, 2019). In 2022, we were the first to successfully operate such a vehicle on a US public road. Today our award-winning technology has been launched across 8 countries (and counting). Our clients are some of the world’s biggest shippers, including Fortune 500 companies. We are also operating Sweden’s largest truck dedicated public charging network and counting.
You will join the System and Safety (SnS) team, a group of ambitious, kind-hearted, and creative people central to the success of our autonomous platform. The team enable Einride to build with confidence by driving high architectural standards and reducing the marginal cost of safety. As a team, we operate as force-multipliers, transforming safety from a final verification step into an ongoing, integrated process that accelerates product development and ensures our deployments meet the highest possible rigor. We are currently in a transformative phase, offering an environment with a high degree of autonomy where you’ll have the opportunity to help shape our processes and ways of working. To get there, we practice tight, cross-functional peer-work to share knowledge and challenge conventional thinking.
In your role, you will be responsible for taking technical concepts from initial ideas all the way to delivery and release, ensuring complete product structure is safe, compliant and scalable. This is a role for the pragmatic, T-shaped engineer who thrives in the intersection of hardware proximity and a software-oriented mindset.
You will
- Design solutions for complex systems using system design, safety analysis and best practices
- Conduct deep-dive analyses (e.g., analyzing sensor redundancy and remote operator visual acuity).
- Collaborate closely with domain teams and internal stakeholders to support safety case and internal audits
- Develop internal tools and scripts using modern AI-assistance to automate and optimize workflows
We expect you to
- Have a Master’s degree in a technical engineering field
- 3+ years of experience working with complex, safety-critical, or mission-critical systems
- Proven track record in requirement engineering, technical specification, and working with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO)
- Experience working with system design and creating safe, robust and efficient electromechanical systems in the automotive sector or other relevant field
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with a wide range of end users
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both written and verbal
- Experience in application software engineering, embedded systems, or programming is a plus
This is a full-time position based in Gothenburg. You will be part of a truly diverse, high performing team with a common passion for sustainability and making things happen in an innovative way. We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible since selection and interviews are held continually.
