We are searching for a Tech Lead Software Engineer, Booking (all genders) to join our Platform team. The role implies contribution to the product & technical domains of excellence in the main API product that allows big retailers to seamlessly purchase tickets from bus & rail carriers around the globe. The team enables the functionality of booking services, including booking orchestration, invoicing, ticketing, and more. The booking services accommodate all the learnings and changes, and in this role, you will ensure the codebase and the team are prepared for further growth of complexity and scale.

What you will do:
  • Create and execute a roadmap for non-functional improvements as well as fill gaps in the functional improvements
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of the team's success, quality of development, roadmap, and technical excellence
  • Take an active and leading part in system design and architecture discussions
  • Deliver high-quality code for new features
  • Improve test coverage and quality of deliverables
  • Maintain a high level of quality services
  • Manage a highly complex business domain
  • Prepare the codebase to accommodate more complexity in the future
  • Cross-functionally collaborate with colleagues from product teams
  • Improve documentation coverage of services and processes
Workplace:
We are a remote-first company with teams located around the Globe.

Also, with the HQ office in Berlin, where the team often meets in the office.

Job requirements

Who you are:

  • At least 7-10 years of software engineering experience:
    • 5+ years of professional experience working with Ruby (additional nice to have: Python)
    • 2+ years in the Tech/Team Lead role
  • Experience working with high traffic/big scale/high-reliability projects in the recent past
  • Experience leading technical initiatives
  • Ability to clearly communicate and convince others
  • Being proactive in understanding the plans of the team
  • Hands-on experience with planning and improving observability and monitoring processes
    • Experience with Grafana/Prometheus is a plus
  • Experience in conducting technical recruitment interviews (nice to have)
  • Extensive experience creating API services
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems principles
    • Experience working with microservices and/or service-oriented architecture
    • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of Kubernetes from a software engineering perspective
  • Experience working with public cloud providers (GCP is preferred)
  • In-depth understanding of relational and non-relational database principles
  • Hands-on experience in designing robust REST APIs
